Her Story

A Passion for Bringing Smiles

Maryam Fitzgerald discovered her love for face painting at a community festival right here in Kanata, where she watched a single artist transform a shy little girl into a radiant butterfly — and saw the child's entire face light up with wonder. That moment changed everything.

Since then, Maryam has dedicated herself to honing her craft, studying under professional face painting instructors and attending workshops across North America. She works exclusively with professional-grade, FDA-approved paints trusted by theatre and film makeup artists — because every child she paints deserves nothing but the best.

Over the years, Maryam has painted at hundreds of events throughout Ottawa, Kanata, Barrhaven, Stittsville, and the surrounding communities. From intimate birthday parties of ten to sprawling festival crowds of hundreds, she brings the same energy, patience, and artistry to every single event.

Every decision Maryam makes at an event is guided by one principle: the wellbeing of every child comes first.

Professional-grade paints only. Maryam uses FDA-approved, cosmetic-grade face paints — the same products trusted by professional makeup artists in film and television. No craft store paints, ever.
Fresh sponge per child — no exceptions. Each child gets a brand-new sponge. Brushes are cleaned between uses with professional brush soap. Cross-contamination is simply not possible.
Hypoallergenic formulas. All paints are water-based, paraben-free, and certified hypoallergenic. Ideal for children with sensitive skin. If a child has known allergies, Maryam is happy to discuss formulas before the event.
Child health comes first. Maryam will never paint a child who appears unwell, has a rash, open skin irritation, or a contagious condition. This policy protects every child at the event.
Full sanitation kit on-site. Every event includes a complete sanitation station — hand sanitizer, fresh water, clean towels, and a professional brush-cleaning kit. Everything is set up before the first guest arrives.
